Creative Innovators Project

Programs & divisions

A place for every kind of thinker, K through 12.

Students are placed into divisions by grade. Every division builds the same core skills — creativity, teamwork, resourcefulness, and resilience — at an age-appropriate level of challenge.

Division 1

Creative exploration, teamwork, simple building, performance, and beginner problem-solving.

  • First Odyssey of the Mind long-term problem
  • Simple set, prop, and costume building
  • Performance and scriptwriting basics
  • Regional tournament in February

More advanced creative problem-solving, design, building, storytelling, independence, and teamwork.

Designed for middle school students ready to take creative problem-solving to the next level. Kids push their ideas further, tackle bigger challenges, and show more independence in their solutions.

  • Engineering precision and polished performance
  • Leadership pathways and junior board roles
  • Mentoring younger divisions

“You've got to bumble forward into the unknown.”
— Frank Gehry

Frank Gehry is a world-renowned Canadian-American architect known for bold, imaginative, sculptural designs that challenge traditional architecture — the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, the Dancing House in Prague. His innovative style has made him one of the most influential architects of the modern era. Every season, our students bumble forward too.

FAQ

Programs, answered

How are students placed in a division?

By grade level: Primary is K–2, Division 1 is 3rd–5th, Division 2 is 6th–8th, and Division 3 is high school. If your child is on a boundary or you're unsure, contact us and we'll help place them.

How often do teams meet?

Teams practice weekly (about three hours) from August through May at The Village at Vistancia Clubhouse in Peoria, with additional practices as the February Regional tournament approaches.

Does my child need experience with building, engineering, or theater?

No. Every skill is taught in-season. Students who love art, storytelling, building, performing, or organizing all find a role — creativity isn't limited to one type of kid.

What does membership include?

Team practices, creative challenges, competition preparation, division-specific guidance, season updates, team communication, and member resources. Membership is $500 per student for the season with family and Primary pricing, installment plans, scholarships, and Arizona ESA acceptance.

Is this only for competitive kids?

Not at all. The Primary division has no scoring at all, and even in competitive divisions the trophies aren't the point — the process of solving hard problems with a team is.

“To invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk.”
— Thomas Edison
