The Masterpiece Challenge

Every great artist, engineer, and inventor started with a spark of creativity — and now it’s your turn! The Masterpiece Challenge invites you to dream big, think outside the box, and build something extraordinary using simple materials you already have at home.

Colorful toy items arranged on top of a cardboard and paper egg carton, including an orange balloon, green, blue, yellow, and red plastic caps and sticks, with a plain beige background.

The Challenge

A masterpiece is a work of extraordinary skill and creativity — something that shows your best effort and unique ideas. It can be anything: a sculpture, invention, structure, piece of art, or something entirely new.

You’ll be challenged to:

  • Build your masterpiece (no larger than 12x12x12 inches)

  • Use only approved materials

  • Write a short 4x6 card description (5 sentences or fewer)

  • List all materials used on the back

How to Participate

1️⃣ Build It – Create your masterpiece using the approved materials.
2️⃣ Describe It – Write 5 sentences or fewer on a 4x6 card explaining your creation.
3️⃣ List It – Flip the card and list every material you used.
4️⃣ Turn It In – Bring your finished masterpiece and card to your coach or the drop-off area.
5️⃣ Celebrate It! – Selected masterpieces will be showcased in our Learning Lounge gallery!

💬 Tip: Think about what makes your creation a “masterpiece.” Is it the design, the story behind it, or the clever way you used your materials?
